8 weeks old

Dear Baby,
You are 8 WEEKS OLD today :) According to babycenter.com, you are now about 5/8 of an inch and about the size of a kidney bean. Here's what the article says about an 8 week old baby:

How your baby's growing:

New this week: Webbed fingers and toes are poking out from your baby's hands and feet, his eyelids practically cover his eyes, breathing tubes extend from his throat to the branches of his developing lungs, and his "tail" is just about gone. In his brain, nerve cells are branching out to connect with one another, forming primitive neural pathways. You may be daydreaming about your baby as one sex or the other, but the external genitals still haven't developed enough to reveal whether you're having a boy or a girl. Either way, your baby — about the size of a kidney bean — is constantly moving and shifting, though you still can't feel it.

And here's a picture of a kidney bean which I guess is about the same size as a quarter:

Tomorrow is our FIRST appointment to see the doctor. Actually, we're going to see a nurse tomorrow because Mommy hasn't picked an OBGYN for us yet. Mommy's mommy did suggest someone so I think we'll request for her the next time we have our appointment. I am so excited to see and hear what they will tell me about you tomorrow. Your Daddy is getting off work early so he can join us and since my Mom works at the same hospital she's going to visit us during our appointment too. I think we might even get to hear your heart beat tomorrow :0)
As excited as I am, Mommy is kind of scared too :( I just hope and pray that EVERYTHING is OK and that you're healthy in my tummy. I will be sure to ask A LOT of questions. I wonder what kind of questions I should be asking at this early stage of pregnancy though....

Memorial Day

Dear Anak,

This past Monday was Memorial Day and a lot of us working people got the day off. What's that you ask? Here's what Wikipedia has to say about this holiday:
Memorial Day is a United States federal holiday observed on the last Monday of May (May 31 in 2010). Formerly known as Decoration Day, it commemorates U.S. soldiers who died while in the military service.[1] First enacted to honor Union soldiers of the American Civil War – it is celebrated near the day of reunification after the Civil War – it was extended after World War I to honor Americans who have died in all wars.

Mommy and Daddy spent this day by going to a baseball game. Los Angeles Dodgers played against the Arizona Diamonbacks.

Daddy bought 6 tickets from work and we went with your Tio Esteban, Tio Cheo, and the Moreno's (Tina & Jared). They had tickets for their 3 girls and Tina's sister Stephanie came along as well. We had a fun time and the game was tied which was better than losing I guess. We ate and talked and laughed and Tio Esteban and your Daddy had themselves a glass of beer. Here are some pictures from that day:

Seven Weeks Old Today

Dear Anak,

I decided I'm going to start calling you Anak from now on...is that OK with you? (or maybe I can just call you Baby or Anak until we figure out a name for you) Anak in Mommy's Filipino language means 'my child' or 'my baby' and someway, somehow it just rolls off my tongue better :)
Anyways, today is Wednesday and Mommy is at work right now. I am SO super sleepy it's not even funny. Are you sleeping in my tummy too or are you moving around exploring right now?  It is so hard for me to do my work because I am literally falling asleep on my desk. *sigh*
So guess what Anak? Today you are SEVEN weeks old and according to babycenter.com, your size is equivalent to a BLUEBERRY! Seems kind of small still but it also says that your arms and legs are starting to form. I would've thought you'd be bigger than a blueberry but that's what it says. When I found out I was pregnant with you I was about 5 weeks along and you were the same size as a sesame seed...so small! At SIX weeks, you were the size of a lentil bean and here we are now at SEVEN weeks and you're a blueberry. (I had blueberries with my yogurt this morning...yikes!)

--OK that's NOT what you look like...hehe! I just thought
it was cute :)

--there it is...that's a blueberry. you don't like that either
but you're the same size right now...so they say.
