Date Night

Dear Baby,

Yesterday, your parents went out to watch a movie. We watched a movie that's not even out yet, not out until this Friday. Mommy's BFF ateCherry and her Lovah (hehehe) Tugz gave your parents free tickets to an advance screening of the movie, The Last Airbender in 3D. Mommy enjoyed the movie but Daddy didn't like it too much. The only thing I didn't like-loud kids inside the theatre. The thing that made it worse-parents who just let their kids be noisy while they were the ones focused on the movie. I mean come on!!! I promise I would never do that with  you. If you don't want to watch a movie or if I feel you're not ready to stay still and enjoy a movie then I would not let the other movie goers suffer by you making noise and ME enjoying the show. It was so annoying.
After the movie we went to In-N-Out for dinner and then we went to visit ateCherry and her fam bam to drop off something. We played with her cutie son (which is Mommy's godson so he'll be your godbrother) Omie. He was SO super hyper and SO super happy to see us. I think he was more excited to see your Daddy but that's OK. Mommy ate AGAIN when were there...oh my gosh! ateCherry made adobo and it was so YUMMY I couldn't pass it up. Well, maybe I could've but I just didn't...hehe :)
Omiesh (that's what I call him) didn't want us to leave because he started crying when we were saying BYE and he kept saying he doesn't want us to say bye, he wants us to sa HI instead. Too bad it was already late because we were having so much fun laughing and playing with him.

2nd DRs Visit

Dear Baby,

Mommy had another DRs appointment last week. This time it was with a Nurse Practioner and she was very nice to us. This visit was to make sure that Mommy is A-OK and everything is just peachy. The NP said, "you're pretty healthy kiddo!" But that didn't stop her from ordering more blood work though...ouchie! The results came back normal though so nothing to worry about. Now all Mommy needs to do is keep up the good work :) But I gotta be honest about something...I still have NOT been excersising!!! I have been so bad by putting it off all the time :( I am so sorry!
My cravings have been pretty bad lately too. What is it with you and spicy foods huh? LoL :) I mean seriously my mouth waters just thinking about Flamin' Hot Cheetos or Jalapenos...yummy! I can now say no to brownies, cookies, or a piece of cake! But if someone offers me anything that has chilis in it, forget about it...Mommy wants some!
I asked my Mom what her cravings were when she was pregnant with me and she said Papayas and Bananas...bleh! I mean I like bananas nowadays but Papaya? Maybe those crunchy kinds that you dip in vinegar in the Philippines :) Omg, my mouth is watering right now...hahaha! I like sour things too. I ate some watermelon the other day and I squeezed some lime juice and sprinkled some salt on it...YUMMY! OK I better stop talking about cravings because I'm getting hungry now.

I wonder what other soon to be Mommies out there are craving for right now....

Dear Baby,

I guess you're not only baby that Mommy has to worry about and take care of right now. Your poor Daddy just got 2 of his wisdom teeth taken out and he is in major pain. He had to be sedated and under general anesthesia so he is kind of a little 'spacey' right now...hehe! He can't even talk right and he laughs for no reason. I went home on my lunch break to go check on him and he does not look good. He says he's in pain and he's hungry but he can't really eat much of anything right now. I gave him a cup of vanilla ice cream with a little bit of chocolate syrup (he really liked that, I heard the coldness helps numb the pain just a little bit too). I tried to feed him some mashed potatoes but he didn't like it. The poor guy is super hungry but he has to only eat things that doesn't need to be chewed right now. I asked him if he wanted me to buy him something later when I get home and he said..."more ice cream!"
I learned something new about your Daddy that I didn't know until now. When he feels super BAD and in this case in super pain as well...he rubs his feet together! Don't ask me why he does that but I just noticed it. He said that's a sign that he really doesn't feel well. Poor thing :( He wasn't crying but he has been moaning from all the pain :(
So my Little Peanut, bare with Mommy OK?  I have you and Big Baby Daddy to care of this weekend. Yay Me :) It's a good thing you're still nestled in Mommy's tummy. I could only imagine a crying baby and another big crying Daddy...yikes!!!

the Trinidads came for a visit

Dear Baby,
How are you feeling today? Are you as tired as Mommy? I didn't go to bed until 3am...yup, 3am! Yikes right? And of course I wasn't able to fall asleep right away so I can't even tell you how tired I am right now. It's OK though, staying up late was well worth it. Mommy stayed up chatting and catching up with cousin Love Joy aka 8Joy :) Her husband Rommel aka Karamel and son Caleb aka CJ were snoring away while we were talking up a storm. We just kinda talked about everything under the sun. Haven't seen them since the wedding which is almost 7 months ago so there was a lot to talk about. They live up north in Vallejo which is about 6-7 hours away from where we live. I cannot wait for you to meet them one day. 8Joy is like a 'jack-of-all-trade' kinda gal. Karamel is one of the funniest and FOBest person I know. CJ is pure genius and entertainment, as 8Joy said he like an older person stuck in a 6yr old body. There you have it LiL One, meet the Trinidads :)
Here are their pictures:

Vegas Weekend

Dear Baby,
How's our LiL Peanut doing today? I'm already wondering if you're a Mister Peanut or a Missy Peanut :)
Anyways, this past weekend we were in Las Vegas (did you feel funny from all the food that Mommy ate while we were there?) and it was a lot of fun. We stayed at this really nice hotel, ate good food, went swimming, walked around a lot, and just spent some quality time with my 'little' family. I'll post some pictures up tomorrow so you can see where we went and what your parents did in Vegas.
I am seriously SO tired right now and I guess signs of fatigue is very normal for someone who's pregnant. I am very thankful that I am not experiencing any morning sickness. I get a little dizzy from time to time but nothing too bad. No vomitting at all (*knock on wood*) and other than not wanting to get up in the morning, my only complain is that I am super sleepy when I'm at work. I mean I am so sleepy that it's hard for me to keep my head up sometimes. Mommy took a nap during her lunch break and it kinda helped but it's just SO bad. And for some reason, as tired as I am at work I am not sleepy at all when I get home from work.
--that's what I want to do at work!

What are YOU doing in Mommy's tummy? I wonder how other Mommies felt at 9 weeks...

***6/21/10--I thought I was 9 weeks already but I guess I'm barely about to be 9 weeks (8 weeks and 6 days) tomorrow.***

First Doctors Visit

Dear Baby,
Your new name might have to be 'Peanut' :) That's what the Doctor called you yesterday and from the pictures we got from the ultrasound, you really do look like a LiL Peanut right now :) Here you are:

--Mommy and Daddy's precious gift from God

--there's your Daddy :0) Isn't he a cutie?
(Daddy took a pic of Mommy like this too
but I decided to NOT post it because
I look terrible...hahaha!)

The Doctor said everything looks just fine. According to the Ultrasound, she said you might be 7 weeks old and not 8 weeks but she also said that might change again so I shoulnd't really worry about it too much. The coolest thing about this appointment---WE GOT TO HEAR YOUR HEARTBEAT---that experience was truly AMAZING and it left your parents speechless!!! Your heart was beating so FAST and it sounded like it was under water but of course that makes sense since you're in my tummy with all that amniotic fluid around you. After we saw the Doctor and 2 Nurses, Mommy and Daddy went downstairs to the lab and they had to draw blood from me :( Mommy's Mom works in the lab but she was already off by the time I got there. Her co-worker Lois was the one that drew blood from me and it didn't hurt at all!!! Thanks Lois :)
We have a few appointments in the coming weeks just to make sure everything else is OK with Mommy's body and all that jazz and then we get to see our OB Doctor and hopefully she can be the one that will deliver you when January rolls around :)

I wonder how other Mommies felt when they first heard their Baby's heart beat...

8 weeks old

Dear Baby,
You are 8 WEEKS OLD today :) According to babycenter.com, you are now about 5/8 of an inch and about the size of a kidney bean. Here's what the article says about an 8 week old baby:

How your baby's growing:

New this week: Webbed fingers and toes are poking out from your baby's hands and feet, his eyelids practically cover his eyes, breathing tubes extend from his throat to the branches of his developing lungs, and his "tail" is just about gone. In his brain, nerve cells are branching out to connect with one another, forming primitive neural pathways. You may be daydreaming about your baby as one sex or the other, but the external genitals still haven't developed enough to reveal whether you're having a boy or a girl. Either way, your baby — about the size of a kidney bean — is constantly moving and shifting, though you still can't feel it.

And here's a picture of a kidney bean which I guess is about the same size as a quarter:

--got this pic from google

Tomorrow is our FIRST appointment to see the doctor. Actually, we're going to see a nurse tomorrow because Mommy hasn't picked an OBGYN for us yet. Mommy's mommy did suggest someone so I think we'll request for her the next time we have our appointment. I am so excited to see and hear what they will tell me about you tomorrow. Your Daddy is getting off work early so he can join us and since my Mom works at the same hospital she's going to visit us during our appointment too. I think we might even get to hear your heart beat tomorrow :0)
As excited as I am, Mommy is kind of scared too :( I just hope and pray that EVERYTHING is OK and that you're healthy in my tummy. I will be sure to ask A LOT of questions. I wonder what kind of questions I should be asking at this early stage of pregnancy though....

Memorial Day

Dear Anak,

This past Monday was Memorial Day and a lot of us working people got the day off. What's that you ask? Here's what Wikipedia has to say about this holiday:
Memorial Day is a United States federal holiday observed on the last Monday of May (May 31 in 2010). Formerly known as Decoration Day, it commemorates U.S. soldiers who died while in the military service.[1] First enacted to honor Union soldiers of the American Civil War – it is celebrated near the day of reunification after the Civil War – it was extended after World War I to honor Americans who have died in all wars.

Mommy and Daddy spent this day by going to a baseball game. Los Angeles Dodgers played against the Arizona Diamonbacks.

Daddy bought 6 tickets from work and we went with your Tio Esteban, Tio Cheo, and the Moreno's (Tina & Jared). They had tickets for their 3 girls and Tina's sister Stephanie came along as well. We had a fun time and the game was tied which was better than losing I guess. We ate and talked and laughed and Tio Esteban and your Daddy had themselves a glass of beer. Here are some pictures from that day:

Seven Weeks Old Today

Dear Anak,

I decided I'm going to start calling you Anak from now on...is that OK with you? (or maybe I can just call you Baby or Anak until we figure out a name for you) Anak in Mommy's Filipino language means 'my child' or 'my baby' and someway, somehow it just rolls off my tongue better :)
Anyways, today is Wednesday and Mommy is at work right now. I am SO super sleepy it's not even funny. Are you sleeping in my tummy too or are you moving around exploring right now?  It is so hard for me to do my work because I am literally falling asleep on my desk. *sigh*
So guess what Anak? Today you are SEVEN weeks old and according to babycenter.com, your size is equivalent to a BLUEBERRY! Seems kind of small still but it also says that your arms and legs are starting to form. I would've thought you'd be bigger than a blueberry but that's what it says. When I found out I was pregnant with you I was about 5 weeks along and you were the same size as a sesame seed...so small! At SIX weeks, you were the size of a lentil bean and here we are now at SEVEN weeks and you're a blueberry. (I had blueberries with my yogurt this morning...yikes!)

--OK that's NOT what you look like...hehe! I just thought
it was cute :)

--there it is...that's a blueberry. you don't like that either
but you're the same size right now...so they say.
